Architecture Courses
You will take on a variety of core classes when you earn your Bachelor’s degree in Architecture. You will also study the intricacies of architecture and design.
Typical course loads include:
- architectural history
- building design and structures
- construction methods
- math, physical sciences, and liberal arts
In addition, students typical work on one architectural project from beginning to end and build a two dimensional model of their building.
Architecture Training Period
There is a required training period for beginning architects that generally last three years. During this internship, the entry-level workers are training for the Architect Registration Exam (ARE). Through this hands-on training experience, the amateur architects perfect their drawing skills, learn to build models, and assist in designing different projects.
Architect Registration Exam (ARE)
When you graduate with a degree in architecture, your next step is to pass the Architect Registration Exam (ARE) before they can legally offer their architectural services. That means that if an unlicensed intern is working on a building it is up to the qualified licensed architect to take responsibility – legal and otherwise – for the project.
Before you can call yourself an architect, you must have a professional degree in architecture, a formal internship period, and you pass the ARE.
With your degree in architecture you will pass the ARE with flying colors! Your internship could be the gateway to a lucrative, exciting position in an architectural firm. Or maybe you want to start your own business. Whatever you decide, you can take the first step toward an architecture career by picking our a program for you today!
