The faculty at CHIC knows that aspiring chefs, cooks, and bakers should have also have a basic education. That is why the school offers a general education program with an emphasis on literacy, communication, math, sciences, and nutrition.
All students at CHIC must complete an externship in their field of study. This is a particularly exciting time for students because they will garner the skills necessary to compete in the professional and often cut-throat work environment. For example, an externship may take place at a restaurant, hotel, a food store, or a catering company.
In the Associate of Applied Sciences in Le Cordon Bleu Culinary Arts program, students will concentrate on culinary, baking, and pastry management. Once the program is finished, a student will be prepared for an entry-level or a mid-level job in the food service industry. During the course, students may opt to work at the student-run CHIC Café for hands-on experience.
The Associate of Applied Sciences in Le Cordon Bleu Pâtisserie and Baking teaches students what they need to know to perform high volume baking. Although much attention is paid to theory and technique, there is also an emphasis on individual creativity and original thinking.
